The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

During this partial government shutdown, the 27th Special Operations Medical Group remains open and continues to honor scheduled medical and dental appointments. Our patient appointing service is open and we're still taking requests for appointments. We're doing our best to minimize impact on our beneficiaries and their health care. The clinic’s Primary Care and Specialty Care services are fully operational. Ancillary services (pharmacy, laboratory, radiology) also remain operational. As always, safe and high-quality health care remain our priority. Please call 575-784-2778 and/or utilize the MHS Genesis Patient Portal to schedule or cancel appointments. Influenza Vaccine Update

We are concerned about your health, especially as we are currently in the middle of flu season. We encourage everyone to get vaccinated annually against influenza.
It’s critical that everyone who is able receives a flu vaccine. It’s essential that active duty service members, active duty family members, and other beneficiaries are well-protected from influenza.

Active Duty Service Members

Active duty service members, National Guard, and Reserve members are required to get the flu vaccine. The 27th SOMDG is available to active duty service members only.
Appointments aren't required; walk-in daily, 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Active Duty Family Members and Other Beneficiaries

Due to delays in flu vaccine shipments, the 27th SOMDG is currently limiting the flu immunization to active duty service members, children ages 6 months-35 months, and adults ages 65 and above. Once the remainder of Cannon’s flu vaccine allotment arrives, the immunization will be available to all beneficiaries.

Other Options for Getting the Flu Vaccine

If you’re unable to get the flu vaccine here at the 27th Medical Group, you can visit any participating network pharmacy or TRICARE-authorized (civilian) provider.
When you get a flu vaccine from anywhere besides 27th SOMDG, follow your service policy guidance for recording the vaccine in your shot record. You'll need the following information:
  • The date the vaccine was given
  • The vaccine name or code
  • Manufacturer
  • Lot number
